La Gomera. Dovn Valle Gran Rey hike, 19 January 2020

Looking for a jacket we had left we took the same trail down the steep clifs of Valle Gran Rey. We had very god weather and a very good hike but did not find the jacket!

Berthelot’s Pipit was very common on the plateau we passed.
Abandonned house on the plateau, and in the background El Hierro the second smallest and farthest south and west of the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa, with a population of 10,798. Its capital is Valverde. At 269 square kilometres, it is the second smallest of the eight main islands of the Canaries.
A holy place for the Guanches? At the time of medieval European engagement, the Canary Islands were inhabited by a variety of indigenous communities. The pre-colonial population of the Canaries is referred to as Guanche. They were wiped out by the Europeans.

Berthelot's spurge (Euphorbia berthelotii) La Gomera, Canary Islands. Endemic to La Gomera.
Berthelot's pipit (Anthus berthelotii) is a small passerine bird which breeds in Madeira and the Canary Islands. It is a common resident in both archipelagos. Berthelot's pipit is found in open country. The nest is on the ground, with 3-5 eggs being laid.

Tenerife-Speckled-Lizard (Gallotia intermedia): A lot of them came to join us for our lunch, to see if there were any breadcrums to pick up.
