Playa del Ingles, Gran Canaria, January 16, 2015
In the morning we took a bus from Las Palmas to Playa del Inglés (Spanish for "Englishman's Beach") - a sea resort in the south coast of Gran Canaria.
Playa del Inglés forms a large sea resort zone, together with the adjacent resort towns San Agustín, Maspalomas (where our hotel was situated) and Sonnenland. The Maspalomas Dunes are situated south of the resort.
The area remained largely unspoiled until the 1960s when large scale tourist development changed the resort. Many of these constructions were large concrete tower blocks, however many have undergone renovation in recent years to make them more sympathetic to the surrounding area.
We walked from Maspalomas to Playa del Inglés, where we had our lunch, and back to our hotel through the impressing dunes. There were also time for bathing.
