On our way to Kazbegi we made our "usual" stop at Ananuri.
Ananuri was a castle and seat of the Eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century.
View over the upper part of Aragvi river.
And a flat tire on Dimas old VW Golf – it is a wonder that it is still running
When we arrived to our homestay, the place was filled with a dozen or more young Iranians.
But our friendly hostess immediately emptied her own home for family members so we could stay there. The living room was changed to bedroom.
Here is the house altar of the family.
It was nearly dark when we came but we could still see Mount Kazbeg.
The kitchen
And although she was not prepared for us arriving she in a few minutes made some delicious food for us from what she had in her garden in the refrigerator.
